St. Kevin's N.S. is currently participating in a variety of activities in school to achieve the Active Schools Flag.

Jersey Day (pictured below) was a great success and the money raised will contribute towards new P.E. equipment for the school.

On rainy days the children keep active by participating in "Busy Breaks" in the classroom. This involves a series of gentle exerciese and stretches - keeping children active in the classroom when they cannot get out to play keeps them fit, alert and helps concentration. The children of Ms. Callan's and Mr. Keane's class have created their own Busy Breaks exercise video for everyone to use.

Children are also participating in a "Walking around Ireland" challenge. The perimeters of the school yards have been measured. Each day the children walk laps around the yard. The total distance is calculated amd recorded.

In October the total distance walked by the school children was 124km 404m.

In November the total distance was 456km

December was very cold and we only achieved 87.564 Km

We aim to have the coastline of Ireland walked by years end.  5871km is the official coastline but we hope to achieve it before we break for the summer holidays.

The children have also designed posters about keeping fit and healthy.
